Status Quo*

* (asterisk denotes super-terrific happy news, but not the kind that involves massive amounts of urine)

Everything is "as-is." I.E. as it has been. He's still not peeing, still high on the vent settings, and still in a very precarious situation. However...thanks to his tremendous nurse today, both DrummerWife and I were able to hold our little boy today. She took him out of the isolette completely in his bedding and set him into my lap. For 45 minutes, Aaron laid in my arms, and I talked to him, and cradled him, and cried over him. I've never been happier in my life than in the moments that Aaron was that close to me. He's beautiful, he's precious, and he's my boy. And no matter what happens, no one or no thing can ever take away the memories that I have of holding my son.

I am so thrilled you both got to hold baby Aaron yesterday. I'm just sorry Keith and I missed it. It was so great seeing you both and meeting Aaron yesterday. The kids got a kick out of Aaron punching the air after our discussion of a sleepover when he gets bigger!

What a wonderful sight to see. Wasn't it a relief to cry happy tears? God knew you kids needed a spiritual lift so he worked through your nurse. She listened to her heart and the outcome was beautiful. Daddy and I love you all very much. Unceasing prayers for you all.

First don't take the GrandDad as a dclaration of title. Aaron can call me anything he wants. Now, If that isn't the most beautiful thing I've ever seen then I don't need to see anything else. Holding Aaron, yesterday was the best therapy for him and you guys. It did wonders for all those that were privelidged to witness it and will be just as good for all who get to see the pictures. Once again, I have faith that some day I will get my hug and get to teach him all those things Mom wouldn't necessarily approve of.

I can't tell you guys how excited I was to hear and see pictures of you holding your little baby. My B-Day wish yesterday was that you were able to feel the love and joy I feel when I hold my little girl. And my wish came true. (Well part of it.) The other part is that he comes home safe and sound. I am still praying with all my heart and thinking of you guys every second. He is beautiful and I can't wait to meet him and spoil him rotten. Josh feel better I know your allergies are bad right now but be strong for your little guy! Nikki you and Josh are amazing people! Hang in there you are at the bottom of the roller coster and the only way out is to go up. So hang on I believe your little one will pick up soon!

Father God, we lift up Aaron’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. Dear Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Great Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles. Cousins, and other family and friends:

He's beautiful and Mom and Dad have been blessed in many ways that can not even be identified today. God performed his miracle of birth long before Baby Aaron was able to see the light of day, and yet he is the greatest gift from God... life. Cherish your moments together for they shall remain in your hearts forever.
Roxanne has just received a call that things do not look good for little Aaron and has rushed to be with him. I pray with all of my heart that God will ease your pain and sorrow with just knowing that Aaron has been baptized and received his angel's wings. If God wills, and calls Little Aaron prematurely, he is guaranteed eternal life with the greatest son of all, Jesus Christ.
Although so many hearts will be broken.....time will pass and God will teach us to go on and we will be stronger for those that will need us to bring them faith, hope, and trust in their darkest hours.
Aaron is love and LOVE is the greatest gift of all for God so loved the world that he sent his only Son to die for us.
May God's peace and love help you through the days ahead and may you know that God has not turned away or ignored your prayers but rather, he has embrassed all of you and blessed you with the entire life of Baby Aaron to cuddle, love, stroke, pray over and hold close to your hearts and to be the passage of human love during his life. Aaron didn't make it.

About 3 hours ago, Aaron passed away. After speaking with his doctors earlier in the last few weeks, we decided that if at any point they were no longer supporting Aaron's life, but instead preventing him from dying, that we didn't want him to suffer any longer. We reached that point this morning. Aaron had been struggling for life from Day One, and after surgery, and several weeks of fighting, Aaron ran out of strength. He fought hard, but the strain of surgery just proved to be too much for him. I'm sure I'll feel up to posting more information later. I just don't seem to have any energy left in me for relating this at the moment. But I did feel it was important to share this information with all of you who have been keeping tabs on us. Eighteen.

 18, Aaron. Holy shit, kid (calm down, you're 18 in about 5 hours, I can curse in front of you now, plus, I've had a couple drinks, my language is a bit loose). You're an adult. You're old enough to drive, you'd be looking at college or technical school, or backpacking across Europe in a gap year, or whatever weird thing kids are doing when they turn 18 these days. You'd be a person. A complete, fully realized, adult person. That's weird, kid, gotta admit. So, 18 is hitting your mom and I kinda hard. The idea of you at 18 is really blowing our minds. We were just barely not kids ourselves when you were born, and now we're talking about you as an adult. It's amazing to think about. IT WASN'T NEC!

After a long day of sitting at the hospital, hoping for the best, and preparing for the worst, the surgeon came in to talk to us and revealed to us that things went better than anyone could have possibly expected. Aaron never had an infection. What he did have though, was a hernia. He had a loop of intestine trapped beneath another loop, and while it was never "infected," it was trapped and deprived of blood, so it was dead. The surgeon removed the damaged loop, and thankfully, there is plenty more intestine left in there for Aaron. He's recovering peacefully from today's surgery, and was already at 28% oxygen (21% is room air) on the ventilator, and his other stats were all back where they were pre-surgery. He's doing fine. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and well-wishes during this time. I fully believe that Aaron wouldn't have rebounded from yesterday's procedure so quickly, and wouldn't have been as ready for today's if not for those...
